Opening Tree Builder
Build a personal repertoire from a Lichess study. Sign-in is required; during beta, availability is shown in the main navigation.
Import a study
Paste the study URL or its eight-character ID, choose your repertoire color and optionally give it a name. The study must be accessible to your signed-in Lichess account.
All chapters, side variations and move comments are imported. Chapters must share the same starting position. If they start from different positions, split them into separate studies before importing. Invalid moves and oversized studies are rejected with an explanation.
Imports are limited to 2 MB of PGN and 20,000 distinct move branches.
Navigate
Select a candidate move to advance the board. Back returns one step; Root returns to the study's actual starting position. Green arrows identify repertoire moves and blue arrows show available explorer suggestions.
A move's comments and available game statistics appear alongside the position. Explorer statistics require your Lichess sign-in and may be temporarily unavailable. If Lichess access has expired, sign out and sign in again. Saved moves remain usable while statistics are unavailable.
Edit
Use Add a move to enter a legal SAN move such as Nf3 or a8=N, with an optional comment. An explorer suggestion can also be added from its details. Select an existing repertoire move and choose Remove to delete it.
Changes persist when the page reloads. A duplicate move is reused. When different move orders reach the same position, they share continuations; deleting one path preserves branches still reachable through another path.
Your data
Repertoires belong to the signed-in account. A second account cannot read or change them. Public Explore remains available without access to personal repertoire data.
